Welcome
Hello, my name is Jules... Welcome to my site created in honour of Australian singer-songwriter Pete Murray.
He's an absolute spunk; he writes honest, stirring, evocative songs; he sings like an angel who's just come home after spending all night painting the town carmine; he's one of the most decent guys on the planet; he rocks: what more could you ask for?
I have to admit to not seeing the light right away... The radio in Australia was completely saturated with Pete's single So Beautiful, and I was stubbornly refusing to jump on the Pete Murray bandwagon. But then he appeared on the NRL (National Rugby League) Footy Show on 11 March 2004, introduced by legendary player Andrew 'Joey' Johns. Pete played So Beautiful and Fall Your Way. I could hardly resist the resounding endorsement by Joey, but it was the rocking performance of Fall Your Way that finally got me on board. Hallelujah! (Apologies, Pete, for being so slow.) Fall Your Way has remained my favourite of Pete's songs, despite being up against some stiff competition.
One song that never fails to move me is Please. And this site is partly inspired by lyrics from that song. I defy anyone not to melt as Pete offers, 'For always... be your man.' gosh
Ahem! Anyway! Bruce and I moved to the UK before I had the chance to see Pete live, so I had to wait until the Shepherds Bush Empire gig in London on 7 June 2006. But that's where I met up with a friend made through the message board on the official Pete Murray website, Pale September; and we also met Tigercub UK as a result of hanging round the stage door afterwards. Not to mention meeting Pete himself! sigh He really is a nice bloke. I was so enthused that I dragged my mate Erika off to see him at his second SBE gig on 13 June... She's been converted, too!
But you don't want to hear any more about me. You want to know about Pete Murray! Please click your way to a full discography, a biography, various Pete-related links, and a gallery of some of preamble's wonderful gig photos.
Happy surfing!
cheers, Jules
